Police seeking suspect after 11-year-old girl sexually assaulted in Bath

Police have revealed that an 11-year-old girl was the victim of a serious sexual assault in the Odd Down area of Bath on Wednesday.

The attack occurred at around 5pm in a wooded area near the Clarks Way playground.

Specialist detectives from Avon & Somerset Police's Operation Bluestone, focused on rape and serious sexual offences, are leading the investigation.

Officers are calling for anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the attack to come forward.

The suspect is described as a white man in his thirties or forties with a distinctive neck tattoo.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and a cap.

The victim and her family are receiving support from officers.

Appeal for Information

Detective Inspector Hannah Marsh highlighted the gravity of the situation.

"This is an incredibly serious incident and significant resources are in place to support our investigation," she said.

"We are prioritising efforts to identify the offender.

"Anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the area or who matches the description provided should contact us."

She reassured the community, noting that neighbourhood officers are conducting extra patrols in the area.

Patrols are expected to continue in the coming days.
