Avon Fire to send engines, hovercraft and rescue equipment to Ukraine

The team at Avon Fire and Rescue say two fire engines, as well as a hovercraft alongside 'vital rescue equipment' are being sent to Ukraine to help the emergency services over there.
It's been praised by local councillors, with the move called a way of reflecting 'the compassion and solidary of our community' with those who live in the war-torn country.
Sharing details about the mission, Avon Fire and Rescue said on Facebook: "Avon Fire Authority has approved the donation of two fire engines, a hovercraft, and vital rescue equipment to help firefighters in Odesa, Ukraine.
"In partnership with Fire Aid and International Development, this life-saving gear will strengthen emergency response in a region devastated by war.
"Later this year, AF&RS firefighters will personally drive the vehicles to Ukraine, with Cllr Goggin joining the journey.
"A big thank you to Bristol’s Ukrainian community and Ukraine Aid and Welfare for inspiring this mission of friendship, hope, and resilience."
