Armed police have been called out and a school locked down for a time in one part of Bristol.

Police received reports earlier today (Thursday 24th September 2026) of someone potentially with a weapon near to Barton Hill Academy in the Barton Hill area of the city.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said:

“At 2.23pm we received a report of a man seen with a bladed weapon behind a disused building in Queen Ann Road.
