Man arrested following death of woman in Hawick

A man has been arrested following the death of a woman at a property in Hawick.

Police were called to an address in the town's McLagan Drive around 7.20am this morning (Thursday).

Officers say the 35-year-old's next of kin have been informed.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault, and enquiries are ongoing.

Part of the street has been sealed off while investigations continue.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.20am on Thursday (June 25th), we were called to the death of a 35-year-old woman at a property on McLagan Drive in Hawick. Next of kin is aware. 

“The death is being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing. 

“A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with assault and enquiries are ongoing.”
