Warning as DVLA launches clampdown on untaxed cars
Motorists are being reminded to keep their details up to date with the DVLA.
It comes after the licensing agency confirmed dozens of untaxed vehicles have been clamped in the Scottish Borders and Berwick in just one week this month.
Galashiels, Hawick, Selkirk and Eyemouth were all targeted during the latest enforcement action.
A total of 38 vehicles were clamped in the TD1 postcode, 14 in TD15, 12 in TD9, and 4 in TD7.
A DVLA spokesperson said: "I can confirm that 72 untaxed vehicles were clamped in the Scottish Borders area between May 6th and 12th.
"This enforcement action was carried out by our national wheel-clamping partner, NSL, as part of their day-to-day activities identifying, clamping, and impounding untaxed vehicles."
While over 98% of vehicles are taxed correctly, DVLA says it's committed to keeping untaxed vehicles off our roads.
It adds: "DVLA does not have to spot an untaxed vehicle on the road to take action. We use a range of enforcement measures, including fines and penalties, as well as on-road enforcement such as wheel clamping.
"Vehicle keepers can sign up for a Driver and Vehicle account and choose to receive vehicle tax reminders by email or text."
