A new delivery van and cash have been stolen during a break-in at Tempest Brewery in Tweedbank over the weekend.

Four men wearing balaclavas were captured on camera entering the building in Tweedside Park - on the village's industrial estate - around 2am yesterday (Sunday) morning.

Director Annika Meiklejohn said the gang were in and out within eight minutes.

“We’re absolutely gutted," she said. "And would really appreciate the community’s help.

“The thieves stole cash and our-new company delivery van – an unbranded silver Nissan Interstar."

A dark saloon car was pictured at the scene of three reported break-ins.

A black saloon type car seen in the area at the time was also spotted at Sprouston Road industrial estate in Kelso - 16 miles away - where a number of lock-ups were also targeted, around an hour earlier.

One victim reported all his power tools and some hand tools were stolen.

Two units belonged to DH Design and Print.

A spokesperson for the company said: “As like any small business, we’ve worked extremely hard to build things up, starting from literally nothing eight-and-a-half years ago, putting all our efforts into try and build something we’re proud of.

“Doors can be repaired, items can be replaced, but having your livelihood attacked, that really stings.

“If anyone may have seen anything in the Sprouston Road area during the night, please let me know.”

The same car - believed to be a Jaguar - was also spotted at Charlesfield industrial estate near St Boswells shortly after the Tweedbank raid - around 2.15am - with reports of a container being broken into and vehicle doors being tried.

Beer mats and cloths with Tempest Brewery's logo on it were discovered at the side of the road near Lindean - about half way between the two industrial estates, via the back roads.

Borders MP John Lamont has described the thefts as “truly shocking”. He is appealing for anyone with information to call the police. He added: "We need to catch them."

Earlier in the night, a quad bike was also reported stolen from Goswick Farm, over the border in Northumberland. But it was later recovered near the A1.

Tempest Brewery has shared footage of the break-in.

Police say enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact them.
