Boy, 15, charged and bike seized following complaints of anti-social behaviour in Hawick
A 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with road traffic offences after an off-road bike was seized in Hawick.
Police were on a patrol in the Lower Mansfield Road area of town, following complaints of anti-social behaviour, when they stopped the teenager around 4.30pm on Tuesday (April 8th).
It comes just days after it was revealed local officers are now using a special spray to tag people and bikes they suspect of being involved in offending.
The SelectaDNA forensic coding mist can only be seen under a UV light and can't be washed off.
It's unclear if it was used on this occasion but police say a report, detailing the circumstances, will be sent to the relevant authority.

Constable Robbie Reilly, from the Community Policing team in Hawick, said: “We are aware of concerns in the community relating to off-road bikes and associated anti-social behaviour.
“This kind of activity will not be tolerated and we will continue to carry out patrols and make enquiries to trace those responsible.
“I would encourage anyone with concerns or information to speak to officers or contact us via 101.”
