Reward offered after sheep feared stolen from field opposite Floors Castle in Kelso
Last updated 5th Dec 2025
Forty-two sheep have been reported missing from a field on the banks of the River Tweed in Kelso.
It's feared the North Country Cheviot ewes have been stolen, with the padlock on a nearby gate found cut last week.
The Friarshaugh flock, which had been grazing on land opposite Floors Castle, have a "V" mark on their ears and were displaying yellow and orange tags.
An appeal has been launched for information, with a reward of £4,000 now being offered for the names of those responsible for their disappearance and information which leads to their safe return.

Posting on Facebook, sheep farmer Christina Flintoft says: "Someone must have seen something or knows who did this and we don’t want it to happen to anyone else.
"They have gone missing at some point over the past week; we have contacted neighbouring farms and there is no sign of them, so we can only assume they have been stolen.
"We have been made aware that the padlock to the gate was found cut on Thursday morning (November 27th) and, (at) the road down to the fishing hut from the padlocked gate, there’s evidence of sheep being loaded here.
"They are most likely to have been taken during the night with nobody around, so anyone with CCTV footage of late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning (Kelso direction and Maxton direction) please check to look out for any 4x4s with a cattle trailer or small livestock lorries."
Anyone with information is urged to contact the owners on 07506791370 or 07961953498, with the message ending: "All information received will be confidential and anonymous."
