Two men in court following New Year 'hotel raids'
Two men from Merseyside have appeared in court in connection with break-ins to two hotels in Peeblesshire in one night last month.
According to police, a four-figure sum of cash was taken from both the Park Hotel in Peebles and Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen in the early hours of January the 2nd.
49-year-old David Owens, from Liverpool, and Stephen Rogers, who's 54 and from Prescot, have each been charged with two counts of theft by housebreaking.
The pair made no plea when they appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court today (Wednesday).
Owens was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is due to appear in court again within the next eight days.
Meanwhile, Rogers was committed for further examination and released on bail.
