Last updated 3rd Apr 2025
A recovery operation is underway this lunchtime after a log lorry overturned on the A7 in Galashiels.
Emergency services were called out to the incident at the Kingsknowes roundabout after the alarm was raised late this morning (Thursday).
It's unclear if there are any casualties, but the road remains open to traffic.
The vehicle - which carries the markings of a Carlisle-based haulage firm - came to a rest on its side on a footpath, next to Heriot-Watt University's student halls.
Some of its load has spilled over the neighbouring crash barrier down an embankment.
The windscreen of the lorry's cab has also been smashed, although it's unclear if this was a result of the smash or subsequent rescue.
