He's said managing Celtic has given him "reasons to live".

It's still unclear whether Martin O'Neill will return to the dugout at Parkhead next season - despite leading the club to what had appeared to many to be an unlikely double.

Following the departure of two managers, his two interim spells in charge helped the champions secure the Scottish Cup and a fifth title in a row.

An official announcement is yet to be made on who will be in charge next season.

However, one appointment O'Neill is set to keep is a night with supporters in Galashiels on Saturday, June 13th.

Three years after his last public appearance in the Scottish Borders, the former Ireland manager is the special guest at An Evening With Martin O'Neill in the town's Volunteer Hall.

Organiser Kevin Green said: "Regardless of whether he returns to the dugout, is moved upstairs or decides now is the perfect time to bow out, there should be a statue to Martin outside Parkhead.

"I suspect we'll find out more on the night."

Davidson joins Vale

Innerleithen-based club Vale of Leithen have announced former Scotland cap Murray Davidson is joining them.

The former St Johnstone midfielder - who grew up in Peeblesshire - will take on a player development and mentoring role with the East of Scotland League side.

A spokesperson added: "It goes without saying it’s a fantastic addition to the club and we're absolutely delighted to have him on board."
