Petrol filling station sealed off by police following break-in

An investigation has been launched following a report of a break-in at a petrol filling station in the Scottish Borders.

The Jet garage at Maxwellhaugh in Kelso was sealed off by police this morning (Sunday).

It's unclear when it was targeted or what may have been taken.

But the forecourt remained behind police tape at 9.30am.

Meanwhile, over the border in Northumberland, Chatton Village Store and Post Office, near Wooler, was also raided overnight.

According to a statement from the store, thieves - who left behind a trail of broken glass - escaped with the till.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.30am on Sunday, we received a report of a break-in at a premises on Maxwellhaugh, Kelso.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
