Driver dies following crash on B6397 near Kelso

A motorist has died following a crash on the B6397 road near Kelso.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised around 7.40pm last night (Saturday).

And locals report the road was closed between the Floors Castle and St Boswells turn-offs.

The crash involved a black Vauxhall Astra, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for around nine hours while crash investigators examined the area and the wreckage was cleared. It reopened around 4.40am this morning (Sunday).

Sergeant Jamie Humpage, from Police Scotland, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the person who has died at this difficult time.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.

“We’d also ask anyone driving in the area with dash-cam footage to come forward.”
