He made no plea to either charge during a private appearance at the town's Sheriff Court today (Thursday).
Sellapan has been committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
He is expected to appear back in court within the next eight days.
Earlier we reported, police swooped on the High Street building shortly before midnight on Tuesday.
And officers were still there today as the site was dismantled.
Silver ventilation ducts, wiring and a number of plug sockets have filled two skips, as officers in forensic suits clear the 8,000 square foot building.
It's unclear how many plants were seized, but some locals have taken to social media to complain about the smell.
