Man charged following Hawick shop 'break-in'

A man has been charged following a report of a break-in at a newsagents in Hawick.

Police were called to the shop in Oliver Place around 11.25pm last night (Sunday).

Officers say the 46-year-old is due to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.25pm on Sunday, we were called to a report of a break-in at Oliver Place, Hawick.

“A 46-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection. He is due to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
