Police investigate 'serious assault and robbery' in Glentress area

Police say enquiries are ongoing following a report of a serious assault and robbery in the Tweed Valley at the weekend.
It’s been alleged a man was attacked as he tried to stop “at least 10 people wearing black with balaclavas on” stealing bikes in the Glentress area.
Officers have confirmed a man was taken to hospital for treatment following an incident, shortly before 3am on Saturday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.55am on Saturday, July 4th, officers received a report of a serious assault and robbery in the Glentress area of Peebles.
“A man was taken to hospital for treatment.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
