WATCH: Braw night in Galashiels for Torwoodlee rideout
Last updated 25th Jun 2026
Huge crowds turned out in Galashiels last night (Wednesday) as the Braw Lads' week festivities continue.
Dozens of horses took part in the annual rideout to Torwoodlee - with free bottles of water being handed out to riders who took part in the procession.
Waiting to welcome them was the Laird, James Pringle, who admitted this year's visit was one of the warmest for a number of years.
He told Greatest Hits Radio: "I think 1976 was probably the last seriously hot one, but as I've often said, I'd rather have too hot than too cold, too wet, so I don't mind."

Following veterinary advice, organisers advised in advance the rideout may be slightly slower than usual due to the warm weather.
The Laird granted the Braw Lad and Lass permission to take a stone from the Tower and sod from his land to use in Saturday's ceremonial rideout.
When asked what message he'd like people to take away from this year's event, he added: "Quite often the Gathering has been seen as looking back - 'aye been', and all that sort of thing - but, actually, the Gathering was set up to look to the future as well as the past, and I think that's what we need to do now."
