Youths charged following spate of car thefts

A girl is among four youths charged in connection with a number of vehicle crimes in the Scottish Borders, police have confirmed.

Between midnight and 3.30am on Saturday, May 23rd, cars were stolen from Dovecot Road and Sandalane Terrace in Peebles, while another broken-into in the town's Provost Melrose Place.

The following week - Saturday, May 30th - items were stolen from within vehicles in West Linton, while a car was stolen from Clovenfords.

It's understood the youngsters involved were aged between 14 and 16.

Officers say reports, detailing the circumstances, will be sent to the relevant authorities.

A spokesperson added: "We would like to thank the public for their assistance and encourage anyone with information relating to crime in their community to continue reporting concerns to Police Scotland."
