Police arrest man following food truck fire in Galashiels

A man has been charged in connection with a fire at a food truck in the centre of Galashiels.

The mobile catering unit was parked outside the Salmon Inn in Bank Street ahead of the town's Christmas lights switch-on celebrations when it burst into flames in the early hours of November 29th.

CCTV footage of the incident was shared online as part of a public appeal for information.

Police say a 38-year-old man has been arrested and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for the force said: “A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a vehicle fire in Bank Street, Galashiels.

“The incident happened around 1.35am on Saturday, November 29th, 2025. No injuries were reported.

“The man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.”
