A 43-year-old man has died following a three-vehicle crash on the A6089 near Gordon.

Emergency services – including an air ambulance from Glasgow - were alerted to the incident shortly before 6pm last night (Tuesday).

But the driver of the Ford Focus was pronounced dead at the scene in Berwickshire.

The driver of the Toyota Hilux was taken to Borders General Hospital, while the driver of the Tesla Model S - both males - did not require hospital treatment.

The road - which links the A697 at Whiteburn with Kelso - was closed for several hours while police examined the scene, and the wreckage was cleared, with motorists advised to find alternative routes.

Officers are now appealing to the public for help to understand exactly what happened.
