Disruption on Borders Railway after fire alarm sparks evacuation

Train services on the Borders Railway are being "delayed, cancelled or altered until further notice" after a fire alarm sparked the evacuation of Edinburgh Waverley station.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called out to investigate the incident in the capital earlier this evening (Thursday).
It meant ScotRail was unable to operate any services to or from Edinburgh, including those from Tweedbank.
And passengers were advised to use their tickets on local bus and tram routes before the area was declared safe.
Services have now resumed, but ScotRail says: "Delays, alterations and cancellations continue to occur as we get trains back into position."
And passengers are being advised to check ahead before they travel.
Train services were also brought to a standstill for a short time earlier this week after emergency services were called to incident between Gorebridge and Stow.
British Transport Police told us: "Officers were called to the line near to Gorebridge railway station at 4.30pm (on Monday) following reports of concern for welfare for a trespasser on the tracks.
"Officers attended and a person was taken to a place of safety."

London Northeastern Railway, CrossCountry, TransPennine Express and Avanti West Coast services were also affected.
Explaining tonight's events, ScotRail's travel checker reveals: "We had reports of the fire alarm sounding at Edinburgh Waverley. As a precaution the station was evacuated.
"Services will be delayed , cancelled or altered until further notice.
"Ticket acceptance now in place with Edinburgh Trams between Edinburgh and Edinburgh Gateway and with Lothian Buses: Edinburgh to Gorebridge and Edinburgh to Prestonpans in both directions."
