A town in the Borders was given a rude awakening this morning (Friday) - when it was hit by a small earthquake.

The British Geological Survey has confirmed the 1.4 magnitude tremor was felt in Innerleithen shortly before 8am.

One local has reported feeling something “strange”, while another said they thought it was thunder.

A third said: "Didn't feel a thing this morning."

While a fourth joked: "I feel em nearly every morning with these bloody wood lorries coming down Traquair Road, going far too fast at about 5.30am."
