Pro-Palestinian campaigners calling on countries and companies to stop arming Israel drummed up support with a demonstration in Duns this afternoon (Tuesday) - by banging pots and pans in the town's Square.

Kitchen utensils were used to highlight concerns that people are dying of starvation during the conflict.

Among those in attendance was Terry Howson, who said the short disruption to water supplies in Berwickshire last week brought home the impact of the humanitarian disaster.

"We don't see much of this in the Borders, but we need to make a noise and show people we're not happy about it," she said. "We've had enough of seeing hunger and starvation."

The event was organised with support from Berwick and District Trades Council.

Spokesperson Lorne Anton added: "In the week in which the UK Prime Minister is entertaining the President of Israel, a country now widely recognised as committing genocide in Gaza, it seemed an appropriate day to express their outrage and disbelief that the UK would entertain such a person."
