A special display of poppies has been created at Dryburgh Abbey - from recycled plastic bottles.

Children from 17 schools across the Scottish Borders were involved in the project in the lead up to Remembrance Sunday, with more than 3,000 being planted in total.

It's the second year Historic Environment Scotland have organised the display in its wildflower meadow.

And it's offering free entry to the grounds, from Saturday, November 8th, to Sunday, November 16th, to give more people a chance to view it.

Visitors can view the display for free over the coming days.

Michael Kay, who manages the site, said: “We’re thrilled to have the return of our poppy display here at Dryburgh Abbey and it's been a wonderful chance to work together with the local community.

"I’m grateful that my team here at Dryburgh and so many fantastic teachers and pupils across the Borders have gotten stuck into this project and helped to create something some impactful.

"The meadow is wintering at this time of year, but the poppies bring a bright splash of colour to the landscape and are a stunning display of remembrance.”
