It's been a busy weekend for Eyemouth Coastguard - with two call-outs in two days.

On Saturday evening, around 6.45pm, two people had to be rescued after their kayak capsized near rocks locally known as Jocks Nose.

St Abbs Lifeboat was also called out, and quickly located and recovered both casualties before safely returning them to the boathouse.

A spokesperson for the Coastguard said: "Both casualties were checked over by the lifeboat doctor and, thankfully, neither required any further medical treatment.

"After being rewarmed and provided with dry clothing, all teams were stood down."

It wasn't long before crews were back in action.

Around 6.30pm last night (Sunday), a dog was rescued after becoming stranded on rocks below the cliffs between Eyemouth and Coldingham.

"The team made their way to the location, where members of the dog’s family had already managed to carefully make their way down to reach the dog," the spokesperson continued.

"Our team deployed to assist them and safely escort all parties back up the cliff to a safe area.

"Once everyone, including the dog, was safely back at the top, the team was stood down.

"Thankfully, the dog was in good spirits, although a little tired and a few cuts and scrapes after the ordeal."

Meanwhile, a special service has taken place in St Abbs to remember all the fishermen who have lost their lives.

Borders MP John Lamont attended Sunday's event, organised by the Fishermen's Mission, along with Rachael Hamilton MSP.

He said: "Fishing remains one of the deadliest peacetime jobs, and services are being held across the country today to remember those lost."
