Police release image of van they want to trace after dog 'injured' on Cocklawburn Beach

Police investigating an incident in which a dog was seriously injured on a Northumberland beach have released an image of a vehicle they want to trace.

Officers were contactedfollowing reports that the German Shepherd crossbreed had been attacked on Cocklawburn Beach, near Berwick

The injured dog suffered a serious wound to its neck and required emergency veterinary treatment.

The incident involving three other dogs - believed to be Bull-type breeds - unfolded around 11am on Sunday, May 3rd.

The other dogs' owner is understood to have left the area shortly afterwards in a vehicle.

Northumbria Police's Dog Section has been carrying out enquiries to establish exactly what happened and whether any criminal offences have been committed.

As part of the investigation, officers have now released an image of a van they are keen to identify.

The vehicle is described as an older-style white Ford Transit van with large roof bars on top, which is believed to have been parked in the area at the time of the incident.

Police are also appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened, or who may have dashcam or mobile phone footage showing either the incident or the vehicle pictured, to come forward.
