There's just two weeks to go until thousands of visitors converge on Kelso for one of Scotland's biggest agricultural events.

The Border Union Show returns to Springwood Park on Friday and Saturday, July 24th and 25th, bringing together farming, food, livestock, shopping and family entertainment in what organisers describe as a celebration of rural life in the Scottish Borders.

More than 12,000 people are expected to attend the two-day event, which will feature over 500 competitions covering livestock, horses and industrial arts, alongside more than 200 trade stands.

Food lovers will be able to sample local produce in the Food Hall, while the Craft and Gift Marquee and live cookery demonstrations will also return.

Among the new attractions this year is a Rural Careers Hub, designed to showcase opportunities across agriculture and the wider land-based sector.

Visitors will be able to meet employers, colleges and industry organisations, while a programme of Spotlight Talks will feature professionals working in agriculture, engineering, environmental management and education.

Another new addition is the Farming Hub, an interactive space where visitors can learn more about modern farming, including livestock management, genetics, animal health and sustainable food production.

The popular Business Breakfast also returns on the opening morning in partnership with the Royal Society of Arts, with this year's discussion focusing on "Perspectives on Agriculture" and the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

Families will find plenty to enjoy throughout the weekend, including Saturday's main ring attraction, Joseph's Amazing Camels, children's entertainment, a funfair, farm animals and the popular Children's Dog Show on Friday afternoon.

Border Union Agricultural Society Secretary Jac Neill said: "The Border Union Show is much more than an agricultural show – it's a celebration of our rural communities, our farming heritage and the innovation that continues to shape the future of agriculture.

"Whether you're involved in farming, interested in food production, looking for a family day out or simply keen to experience the very best the Borders has to offer, there's something for everyone."

Show Chairman James Playfair-Hannay added: "The Border Union Show has always been about bringing people together to celebrate the very best of agriculture and rural life. While our livestock competitions remain at the heart of the Show, it is equally important that we continue to look to the future of our industry."
