Tickets for Alan Carr's first show in the Scottish Borders have sold out - in less than TWO MINUTES.

The Celebrity Traitors winner approached MacArts in Galashiels to enquire about trying out some new material "with some of his comedy friends" ahead of his upcoming tour, called “Have I Said Too Much?”

Most of the dates, which include venues like the Edinburgh Playhouse and Manchester Opera House, have already sold out.

It comes just weeks after the TV funnyman confirmed he has bought Ayton Castle, in nearby Berwickshire.

Carr - spotted filming in the area last month - reportedly plans to transform the historic home for a new Disney+ TV series, with the working title of Castle Man.

The reality show is being produced by Expectation, the same company which is behind Clarkson’s Farm on Prime Video.

Carr will perform at MacArts in Galashiels on June 18th,

It's unclear who will join Carr on stage at the intimate venue, which holds 150 seated, or whether it will be filmed for his new show.

More than 450 people waited in the online queue for tickets when the gold-dust briefs went on sale at 10am this morning (Tuesday) - despite the venue giving fans just a day's notice.

But, two minutes later, the site's operator had confirmed all tickets had gone - leaving many fans disappointed.

One said: "500+ in front of me, bang on 10am??" Another added: "Mine said over 800." A third said: "Absolutely gutted - can they not put a screen outside?"

Venue Manager Chris Wemyss told Greatest Hits Radio: "Although it was a total surprise to be approached by Alan Carr to perform at MacArts, unsurprisingly his show when it went on sale this morning sold out within two minutes.

"Let's hope this is the start of a long relationship with Alan since he's moved to the Borders."

Fans had earlier described the announcement as a real "coup" for the former church, which has also attracted the likes of fellow stand-up Jack Dee and was recently crowned best small venue at the Scottish Live Music awards.

Another added: "I thought this was a prank at first. This is just brilliant."

Alan's new home at Ayton boasts 17 bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and its own miniature railway.

Taking to Instagram, Alan - who turns 50 this month - said: "You might have heard I bought my own castle… yes, the rumours are true. The only thing missing is you.

"Now if you want to let your hair down in one of Scotland's most beautiful castles, then you’re in luck. If your having a birthday, any kind of celebration, or even a wedding."

Revealing his plans, he continued: "Then why not have it at Ayton Castle? Be my guest. Get in touch at [email protected] for more information - and who knows, we might just be partying together."

A meeting was due to take place in Ayton Church last month with both the production company and Alan Carr regarding his plans for the castle and the impact on the village of filming.

The minutes of a recent meeting of Ayton Community Council state: “It was now widely reported that celebrity Alan Carr was in the process of purchasing Ayton Castle from the current owners.

“At this point only one series of eight episodes of the programme had been agreed.

“The castle will become Alan Carr’s main home, it will not be a hotel or spa.

“The production would involve a crew of 20 people and they would be looking to use local suppliers where possible to meet any of their needs.”
