Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr announces first gig in the Scottish Borders since buying Ayton Castle

Just weeks after confirming he has bought a castle in the Scottish Borders which he plans to transform for a new Disney+ TV show, comedian Alan Carr has announced he will perform an intimate gig in the region - for just 150 fans.
The Celebrity Traitors winner - owner of Ayton Castle in Berwickshire - is set to try out new material at MacArts in Galashiels "with some of his comedy friends" on Thursday, June 18th.
It comes ahead of his upcoming tour called “Have I Said Too Much?” - much of which has already sold out.
Tickets for the Scottish Borders gig go on sale tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10am, and are expected to sell out in seconds.
The venue, which has hosted the likes of fellow TV funnyman Jack Dee in recent times, revealed briefs for Jimmy Nail's August show were snapped up in one minute 40 seconds.
Reacting to today's announcement, one fan said: "He's not been on tour in a while..what a coup for the venue! Wow!"
Another added: "I thought this was a prank at first. This is just brilliant."
More details are to be announced later this evening.
A spokesperson said: "There is to be no unauthorised filming or recording at this event. Anyone found to be recording or attempting to make any audio or visual recordings at this event will be immediately asked to leave."
Carr is believed to have been filming for his new Castle Man series in the Borders last month.
The reality show is being produced by Expectation, the same company which is behind Clarkson’s Farm on Prime Video.
Taking to Instagram, Alan - who turns 50 this month - said: "You might have heard I bought my own castle… yes, the rumours are true. The only thing missing is you.
"Now if you want to let your hair down in one of Scotland's most beautiful castles, then you’re in luck. If your having a birthday, any kind of celebration, or even a wedding."
Revealing his plans, he continued: "Then why not have it at Ayton Castle? Be my guest. Get in touch at [email protected] for more information - and who knows, we might just be partying together."
Ayton Castle is widely regarded as one of Scotland’s finest baronial-style homes.
Set in extensive grounds at the edge of the village, the red sandstone building boasts 17 bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and its own miniature railway.
“News of Mr Carr’s purchase of the castle has been largely positive,” said Trevor Smith, secretary of Ayton Community Council.
“We live in a beautiful village and national recognition of this is welcomed. Many people hope it will result in further investment in the village, particularly the pub, having been closed for over a year now.
“We are a very welcoming community and there are many who look forward to meeting the man himself in due course."
