Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr is making himself at home in the Scottish Borders.

Days after celebrating his 50th birthday, the TV funnyman - best known for presenting talk show Chatty Man - has been spotted posing for photographs at the Allanton Inn in Berwickshire.

The award-winning 18th-century coaching inn is just ten miles from Ayton Castle, which he confirmed he had bought last month.

The comedian's journey to owning an historic home is being filmed for a new series on Disney+ - produced by the same company behind the hit series Clarkson's Farm.

Sharing the photos on Facebook, the pub beamed: "Chatty Day yesterday (Tuesday) warmly welcoming our newest Berwickshire resident to the Scottish Borders, and of course Alan's ton!"

In one of the pictures, Alan can be seen holding the Allanton Inn sign, while covering one of the letter 'l's, so that it reads: "Alan'ton'.

The community council doesn't appear to object to the renaming of the conservation village either, responding: "So awesome!"

Another poster said: "Best hotel in the area to visit. Great he's getting to know everyone!"

A third added: "Brilliant to see Alan out and about loving his new home!"

Alan - who had earlier been spotted going for a ride on a rigid inflatable boat at Eyemouth - is due to perform his first sold-out show at MacArts in Galashiels tomorrow (Thursday) night.

We previously reported that all the tickets for the 150-seat venue were snapped up in less than two minutes of going on sale.

He had only days earlier approached staff to enquire about trying out some new material "with some of his comedy friends" ahead of his upcoming tour, called “Have I Said Too Much?”

Most of the dates, which include venues like the Edinburgh Playhouse and Manchester Opera House, have already sold out.

Fans had earlier described the booking as a real "coup" for the former church, which has also attracted the likes of fellow stand-up Jack Dee and was recently crowned best small venue at the Scottish Live Music awards.

Katrina Reynolds, who runs the Allanton Inn along with her husband William, told Greatest Hits Radio: "It's just fantastic that he's supporting local businesses.

"It's putting Berwickshire and the Borders on the map."
