A 22-year-old man has been taken to hospital following a crash on the A7 near Falahill.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 9am this morning (Sunday).
According to police, a silver Renault Clio travelling southbound entered the northbound carriageway and collided with street furniture, signs and a telegraph pole.
Officers say the road remains closed (3pm) - between Stow and Middleton Moor - while repairs are carried out, adding enquiries are ongoing.
The casualty, who was taken to the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh for treatment, has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences.
Constable Danny Bruce, from Police Scotland, said: “It’s vital we establish the full circumstances of this crash.
“I’d like to ask for the public’s help: Did you see what happened? Did you see the silver Clio prior to the crash?
“Do you have dash-cam footage from the A7 at the time which has captured anything significant? If you do, please contact police.”

It's the latest in a series of serious smashes on the A7 - a key road between Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders.
In December, a 66-year-old man was taken to hospital after his blue Toyota Rav4 crashed into a telecommunications pole between Fountainhall and Stow - leaving the road and coming to a stop in a field.
Anyone with information is urged to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0994 of June 14th.
