Woman jailed for breaching civil order
It happened in July
A Telford woman has been handed a 14-week jail sentence, for breaching a civil order.
Renee Hammonds, of Jackson Drive, Doseley, was given a Civil Injunction Order in June, after a number of anti-social behaviour incidents, on Jackson Drive. In July, the 30 year-old breached the conditions of the order.
On Tuesday 25 August, Hammonds was due at Telford Magistrates Court to be sentenced for her breach, but did not appear. In her absence, she was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison and a warrant was issued, for her arrest.
Hammonds was arrested by officers from Dawley & Malinslee Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT), on Friday (11 September). The arrest triggered the 14-week sentence and she was remanded to custody.
Police Constable George Oliver, from the SNT, said: "Anti-social behaviour can have a significant impact on residents and communities and we will continue to take action against those who repeatedly cause harm and distress to others.
"This outcome demonstrates our commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour and shows that breaches of court orders will not be tolerated. We work closely with our partners, including Telford & Wrekin Council and housing associations, to identify issues, support victims, and take robust enforcement action, where necessary.
"I hope this case reassures the community that, through effective multi-agency working, we will continue to use all available powers to protect residents and improve the quality of life, for those affected by anti-social behaviour."
