Crews tackle accidental fire in Pattingham field
Firefighters have successfully extinguished a large grass fire that broke out in Wolverhampton.
Crews were alerted to the blaze at 9.55pm on 3rd August, responding to reports from a field off Great Moor Road in Pattingham.
Five fire appliances and a water carrier arrived at a scene where approximately 70 metres by 100 metres of grassland was alight.
The firefighting teams used an extended hose reel jet to contain the fire before deploying a wildfire hose for complete extinguishment.
Attending the scene, Station Manager Danielle Coleman described the fire's cause as accidental.
"We are experiencing extremely high demand across Staffordshire at the moment and I would urge people to take care in the countryside," Coleman said.
She advised the public to manage waste responsibly, avoid barbecues and open fires, and properly extinguish cigarettes to reduce the risk of fires.
These precautions are vital as emergency services work to deal with increased fire incidences during periods of high demand.
