A West Midlands Police puppy has been putting his best paw forward during his first trip out with officers in Wolverhampton.

Obe, a four-month-old German Shepherd, visited Foxlands Grange care home in Tettenhall as part of a socialising visit with officers from the Tettenhall Neighbourhood Team.

He was joined by two officers, along with his puppy fosterer and local resident Teresa, to meet residents and staff at the care home.

PCSO Helen Denyer said Obe received a warm welcome during the visit.

She said: “During his visit Obe got lots of attention and fuss from the residents and staff who were delighted to see him.

“It was a great way for us to help in his environmental and socialising development whilst also letting some of the residents enjoy the company of a pup for a few hours.”

Obe is part of West Midlands Police’s puppy development programme, which aims to train future operational police dogs for service within WMP and other UK police forces.

He will stay with his puppy walker and fosterer until he is 12 months old, before moving on to intensive training.
