Man arrested for knife possession in Walsall town centre
45-year-old Nilesh Patel faces court appearance
A man has been arrested and charged with possession of a knife in Walsall town centre, with a court appearance scheduled for October.
Nilesh Patel, 45, who has no fixed address, will be appearing at Dudley Magistrates Court on 1st October 2026, after neighbourhood officers from the St Matthew’s team made the arrest on Bradford Mall.
PC Kyle Butler from St Matthew's Safer Towns Team commented on the team's commitment to ensuring safety in the town centre:
“Our team is dedicated to making our town centre’s a safe place to work and visit. This was another excellent arrest with a knife taken off our streets.”
The arrest is part of the #SaferTownsSummer initiative aimed at enhancing the safety and welcoming nature of town centres and shopping areas through visible reassurance patrols and enforcement activities in hotspot zones.
Local officers remain available to listen to community concerns, ensuring a proactive approach to safety.
"Our team is here for you. No matter how big or small your issue may be," PC Butler added.
