Two men jailed after police find gun and drugs in Sandwell
Police pursued a stolen car leading to drugs and weapon recovery
Two men have been jailed after police discovered a firearm and Class A drugs following a pursuit involving a stolen car in Sandwell.
Officers spotted a stolen Ford Fiesta on Wood Lane, West Bromwich, at around 10am on 5th May 2025.
The driver, Tammem Miah, sped away from police, running red lights, driving on the wrong side of the road, and even causing other vehicles to swerve onto the pavement to avoid a collision. One car was struck by Miah but its driver was not seriously injured.
The chase ended on Arthur Road, Tipton, where Miah attempted to flee on foot before being arrested outside a nearby address.
Upon searching his bag, officers recovered a revolver, ammunition, heroin, and crack cocaine.
A subsequent search of the property where Miah had been detained also led to the discovery of more Class A drugs and drug-related items in a room belonging to Mohammed Ahmed.
Miah, 23, of High Street, Tipton, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, dangerous driving, disqualified driving, and receiving stolen goods.
He was sentenced to nine years in prison at Birmingham Crown Court last Wednesday (10th December.)
Ahmed, 23, of Arthur Road, Tipton, admitted possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. He was sentenced to two years and six months behind bars.
DC Kyle Bowering from West Midlands Police's Major Crime Team said, “Miah was armed with a potentially lethal weapon and was reckless in his efforts to avoid being caught by officers. He was prepared to put other lives at risk to try and get away.
“We seized Class A drugs from both Miah and Ahmed which would likely have been traded. We know drugs not only ruin lives but lead to other crime and they’re now both rightly behind bars.”
