Train services suspended between Telford and Wolverhampton after freight train derailment
Passengers travelling between Shrewsbury, Telford, Wolverhampton and Birmingham are being urged to check before they travel.
Train services have been suspended between Telford and Wolverhampton after a freight train derailed between Wolverhampton and Bilbrook.
The low-speed derailment happened on one of the lines in the area and has caused significant damage to the overhead electric wires.
The supports holding the wires in place have also been knocked over, meaning all lines are currently blocked.
Services running through the area are suspended, with trains affected in both directions between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton.
There is currently no confirmed time for when the problem will be resolved, and passengers have been warned that knock-on delays are expected.
An emergency timetable has been put in place while the derailment is cleared.
Although some trains are still running, services are unable to operate the full length of the route as normal, and passengers are being urged to check before travelling.
There is currently no train service between Telford and Wolverhampton.
A shuttle train service is operating between Telford and Shrewsbury, while another shuttle service is running between Birmingham and Wolverhampton via Darlaston and Willenhall.
Rail replacement transport has also been arranged between Wolverhampton and Telford in both directions.
Passengers travelling to Shrewsbury from Birmingham New Street are being advised to change at Wolverhampton for a rail replacement bus to Telford Central. From there, a train service will operate to Shrewsbury with amended times.

Passengers are also being advised to consider travelling later if possible, or to check whether alternative rail routes or local public transport options are available.
