Neil Candlin, known for his repeated shoplifting offences, received an 18-month conditional discharge after pleading guilty to recent thefts in Telford.

Candlin appeared at Telford Magistrates Court on 15th September facing two counts of theft.

On 10th September, the 33-year-old stole £130 worth of meat from the Co-Op in Stirchley before moving to Cineworld in the town centre to steal sweets.

Swift action by store staff and officers led to Candlin's arrest.

Previously, in July 2025, he was issued a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from entering certain stores across Telford.

The court additionally imposed £241 in fees on Candlin.

Inspector Rich Jones highlighted the significant impact shoplifting has on businesses and the community, emphasising ongoing efforts to combat such crimes.

He noted, "Candlin is a prolific offender, and with the support of local retailers, we aim to hold responsible individuals accountable."

West Mercia Police remains dedicated to supporting businesses and preventing shoplifting through collaboration and enforcement.
