A Telford man has received a 28-month prison sentence for assaulting a police officer and for thefts over a five-month period totaling more than £2,100.

Nathan Price, 36, of Roman Close, St Georges, was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court on 5th March after pleading guilty to assaulting an emergency worker, assault, and 50 counts of theft.

The court heard that between April and August 2025, Price stole items including meat, air fresheners, dog food, cheese, alcohol, and clothes from various stores in Telford, with the total value amounting to approximately £2,140.

Price was arrested on 14th August 2025, during which he assaulted a police officer and a member of the public.

Following his arrest, Price was charged with the offenses and remanded in custody.

Criminal Behaviour Order

In addition to the prison sentence, Price was handed a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) preventing him from entering specific stores in Telford such as Co-op, ASDA, Greggs, MAC Stores, and Fraisers.

The order also prohibits Price from refusing to leave a store when requested by someone in authority.

His CBO will remain in effect until March 2031.

Sergeant Rich Jones from Telford's town centre team said, “Price’s offending caused significant disruption to local businesses and placed both the public and our officers at risk.

"His repeated thefts over several months, followed by the assault on an officer and a member of the public when he was arrested, showed a complete disregard for the law and for the safety of others.

"This custodial sentence, along with the Criminal Behaviour Order, sends a clear message that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated. We will continue to work closely with retailers and our communities to identify prolific offenders and take firm action to protect the public.”

Members of the public are urged to contact police via 101 or report it online at https://www.westmercia.police.uk/ro/report/ if they witness Price breaching his CBO conditions.
