Five men jailed for kidnapping man in broad daylight in Telford

Five men have been jailed for a combined total of 37 years for kidnapping a man in broad daylight in Telford.
The court heard that the men carried out the crime after discovering the 21-year-old victim was in a relationship with a female relative of two of the kidnappers.
On 29 December 2025, four masked men dragged the victim from an address in Arleston and forced him into the boot of a black Audi.
CCTV showed the car being driven through Wellington with the boot open and the victim's feet hanging out.
The victim was taken to a storage unit near Eyton, where he was tied to a chair and tortured before left locked inside.
The victim managed to escape while being driven through north Shropshire. When two of the kidnappers got out of the car, he locked the doors and drove off as the keys were left in the ignition.
He got help from a takeaway in Whitchurch and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The sentences
All five men have been sentenced for kidnapping. They include:
- Shayyan Hussain, 24, of John Broad Avenue in Arleston, Telford - jailed for seven years and six months
- Haider Ali, 22, of Montgomery Road in Wellington - jailed for seven years
- Faheem Chohan, 23, of Windsor Road in Arleston, Telford – jailed for seven years and six months
- Ehteshan Hussain, 22, of Princess Avenue in Arleston, Telford – jailed for seven years and six months
- Jawad Hussain, 21, of Windsor Road in Arleston, Telford – jailed for seven years
Jawad, Ehteshan, Chohan and Shayyan pleaded guilty to kidnap in January 2026.
Ali pleaded not guilty to the charge but was found guilty following a two-week trial last month (June).
A sixth man who also stood trial for kidnap was found not guilty.
"Kidnapped by men he had considered friends"
Detective Chief Inspector Lee Holehouse said: “This was a horrifying ordeal for the victim, who was kidnapped by men he had considered friends for much of his life.
“He was dragged from his home, held against his will, subjected to a violent assault and threatened with death. The actions of these men were both cruel and calculated, and the sentences handed to them reflect the seriousness of their offending.
“I would like to commend the victim for the courage and resilience he has shown throughout this investigation and court process.”
