Teenager charged with attempted murder after Smethwick stabbings

A teenager has been charged with attempted murder after two men were stabbed during disorder in Smethwick.

Police were called to reports of 'armed violence' in Foundry Lane just before 9:30pm on 26 May.

Two men were taken to hospital with stab wounds.

A 21-year-old man remains in hospital in a serious condition.

A 19-year-old man who was arrested at the time has now been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

Andre Gomes, of Bunbury Road, Northfield, is due at Birmingham Magistrates Court on 29 May.

Two other teenagers who were arrested, both aged 18, have been released on bail as investigations continue.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident to contact them, rather than sharing it on social media.
