Man jailed in Sandwell after threats with imitation firearm
Sentenced to over eight years for multiple offences
A man has been jailed for over eight years following a series of threatening incidents involving an imitation firearm in Wednesbury.
On 1st November last year, Malachi McPherson arrived early in the morning at an address on Bassett Road in a silver Skoda. He made threats to the occupants using a BB gun, returning shortly after to smash a window before fleeing the scene.
Following a police search, the vehicle was located on Bustleholme Lane, West Bromwich, where McPherson was seen running from the car. Officers quickly detained him.
Investigations revealed McPherson, 26, was driving while disqualified and uninsured, engaging in dangerous driving.
He was charged with possession of an imitation firearm, affray, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified and uninsured, to which he pleaded guilty earlier this year.
On 4th September, McPherson was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court to eight years and six months in prison and received a five-year driving ban.
The police emphasised the serious nature of imitation firearm threats, reinforcing their commitment to removing weapons from West Midlands streets through Operation Target.
