Repeat offender jailed for shop thefts in Wolverhampton

Local police catch thief with items worth £250

A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to nearly six months in jail for shoplifting at Bentley Bridge retail park in Wolverhampton.

Luke Dhear was caught with a stolen goods worth approximately £250 after police officers from the Wednesfield and Heath Town team responded to reports of suspicious activity.

Security staff at the retail park informed the officers that a man had been seen heading towards Rookery Street.

Officers detained Dhear after finding him with a large red bag containing items stolen from at least two shops.

He appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on 12th March and was charged with 10 counts of theft, including six thefts from a store in Wednesfield.

Police in Wolverhampton are focusing on tackling retail crime with dedicated officers working alongside retailers to prevent shoplifting.
