Oswestry woman's creative crisp flavour to hit the shelves in competition final
Becky Dibble's grilled cheese and chilli jam crisps will be available from September
A woman from Oswestry is set to have her unique new crisp flavour rolled out on supermarket shelves across the country.
Becky Dibble said she's always been creative in the kitchen and ended up concocting a grilled cheese and chilli jam flavoured crisp that caught the attention of the team at Walkers.
Now, Becky has made it to the final two of the brand's 'Give Us a Flavour' competition - the nationwide hunt for their next permanent flavour.
"It feels incredible - it's just so surreal to know it's going to be on the shelves, at least from September to November," she said.
"It's just crazy."
Becky described the flavour as "everything you could want and need in a crispy", saying it's tangy, salty and spicy, with a touch of sweetness as well.
The combo is also a favourite with her son, which she says is a massive bonus.
The crisp flavour with the most sales will win the compeition, with Becky's creation going up against salt and pepper chicken.
As well as the flavour being added to Walkers' permanent line up, the winner will also get a £500,000 cash prize.
"I just entered the competition on a whim really," Becky admitted. "I just didn't think at all it would get this far.
"Originally I was a bit hesitant about uploading the video to TikTok to enter, but my partner and my mum sort of pushed me and were like go on, just do it, and now here we are!"
When Becky isn't cooking up a storm of new side dishes to try at home, she said shes coming up with specials for the cafe where she works in the town as well.
She said she's hopeful her flavour can go all the way and to keep an eye out come September for a woman in a chilli costume promoting it around Shropshire and beyond!
