A new NHS-led service for children and young people in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin will officially launch on 1 April 2026, offering enhanced support for emotional wellbeing, mental health, and neurodevelopmental needs.

The service, delivered by Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT), will replace the existing BeeU service, expanding its reach and improving access.

It has been developed following extensive consultation with children, young people, families, and professionals during 2024–2025, led by NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.

Designed to meet the evolving needs of young people aged 0–25, the new model aims to provide quicker access to care, early support, and more coordinated services so that children and families receive the right help at the right time.

It also focuses on reducing inequalities in access and outcomes, particularly for vulnerable groups, including children in care and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Children and young people already supported by BeeU can continue their care without needing to opt in or be re-referred.

Key Improvements:

  • One central access point for information and referrals, ensuring people are guided to the right support.
  • Earlier support while waiting for specialist care.
  • Joined-up care, so families won’t have to repeat their story multiple times.
  • Support from 0–25, with smooth transitions into adult services where needed.
  • Fair and targeted support for vulnerable groups, including enhanced pathways for children with specific needs developed in partnership with local authorities.

Later in 2026, the service will develop an enhanced pathway to more effectively meet the needs of vulnerable children, as part of ongoing transformation in partnership with local authorities.
