A man's due to appear in court today, after police seized a live and viable gun, alongside drugs and a sword, in Wolverhampton.

George Israel, 19, was arrested in the Low Hill area on Wednesday evening (16 September).

Searches of a car and a house in the area led to the discovery of several wraps of suspected Class A drugs and a large sword.

Officers also recovered a bag containing a gun, which, after examination, was found to be a live and viable converted blank-firing pistol.

These items have all been seized.

Mr Israel has been charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition and is due at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today (18 September).

Police say they're taking a defiant stand, against a range of serious and organised crime offences, under Operation Target.

Officers use local intelligence, seize goods, carry out warrants and target offenders, as part of Operation Target’s ongoing crackdown, against serious and organised crime.
