In a significant action against car cruising in Shropshire, a man has been banned from driving after police discovered footage of him driving dangerously.

Mohamad Almustafa, 23, from Kingsland in Telford, admitted to dangerous driving at Telford Magistrates Court on Monday, 18th May, as part of Operation Chicane.

The court heard that in March, officers found videos showing Almustafa driving recklessly in his BMW in Halesfield, Telford.

Collaboration between roads policing officers and safer neighbourhood teams identified Almustafa as the driver, leading to a Notice of Intended Prosecution and subsequent charge.

Almustafa received a 12-month driving ban and a 12-month community order, which includes the requirement to complete 180 hours of unpaid work.

PC Mark Smith from the roads policing team addressed the issue, stating: “This kind of reckless driving puts innocent road users at real risk, and Almustafa’s behaviour showed a complete disregard for the safety of others.”

He added that by sharing dangerous driving footage online, Almustafa contributed to a harmful culture that jeopardises communities and taints responsible motorists.

PC Smith commended the cooperation between policing teams that facilitated swift identification and court proceedings against Almustafa.

He emphasized that the conviction falls under broader efforts to combat antisocial and dangerous driving through Operation Chicane.

“We hope it sends a clear message that dangerous driving will be thoroughly investigated and dealt with robustly,” PC Smith concluded.
