Knife seized and man charged in Wolverhampton

Police have arrested a man and seized a knife, after a fight, between two men, on Victoria Street, in the city centre.

Officers were alerted at around 4.20pm on Friday and, on carrying out a stop and search in the area, they detained a suspect on Skinner Street and a knife was recovered.

The 20 year-old man was charged with possessing a knife in a public place. Anthony Percival, of Park Village, is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on 15 October and remains on police bail, with strict conditions.

Officers detained a man, on suspicion of theft, after items were reported stolen from a store on Victoria Square, in the city centre, yesterday morning (13 Sep).

The 44 year-old was charged with theft and a second offence of theft at a store in the city, on 23 August. He was further charged with possessing cannabis.

Andrew Burton has been released on police bail, with conditions, to appear at Dudley Magistrates Court on 5 November.
