A man from Stafford who assaulted and strangled his ex-partner has been jailed for one year and eight months.

41-year-old Kieran Hemming turned up at the victim's house last September demanding to speak to her.

He forced his way inside and pushed her to the floor before leaving.

He'd previously strangled her following an argument and sent her threatening emails.

Hemming pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation, assault by beating and harassment – put in fear of violence.

Detective Constable Jessica Scott said: “Hemming subjected the survivor to a torrent of physical and emotional abuse and has rightfully been brought to justice for his actions.

“We’re determined to support survivors of domestic abuse and to act robustly against those responsible."
