Telford man guilty of kidnapping in broad daylight
Haider Ali has been found guilty of his involvement in the kidnapping
A man has been found guilty of helping to kidnap a 21-year-old man in broad daylight in Telford.
Haider Ali, 22, of Montgomery Road in Wellington, has been found guilty of kidnap following a trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
The court heard that on 29 December 2025, four masked men dragged the victim from an address in Arleston and forced him into the boot of a black Audi.
CCTV showed the car being driven through Wellington with the boot open and the victim's feet hanging out.
The victim was taken to a storage unit near Eyton, where he was tied to a chair and tortured before left locked inside.
Prosecutors said Ali was involved in transporting the kidnappers and helping them move between locations before and after the attack.
The victim managed to escape while being driven through north Shropshire. When two of the kidnappers got out of the car, he locked the doors and drove off as the keys were left in the ignition.
He got help from a takeaway in Whitchurch and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police arrested Ali the same day after identifying a Volkswagen linked to the kidnapping.
Four other men previously pleaded guilty to kidnap. They are Jawad Hussain, 20, Ehteshan Hussain, 22, Faheem Chohan, 23, and Shayyan Hussain, 24, all from Telford.
All five men are due to be sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court at a later date.
A sixth man who stood trial was found not guilty.
Detective Chief Inspector Lee Holeshouse, from the force’s Major Investigations Unit, said: “This was a shocking and deeply disturbing attack in which a young man was kidnapped in broad daylight, subjected to a sustained and brutal assault, and held against his will.
“The actions of all five men involved show a complete disregard for human life and the law, and the level of violence and intimidation used is utterly unacceptable."
